The Underdogs: Characters I Wanted to See More

13 Dec

While there have been numerous guest stars on The Office throughout the past nine seasons, some have been more memorable than others. To start with, one of my most favored guest stars is David Wallace. My favorite thing about David is his calm and simple demeanor. This always presented a hilarious contrast in situations involving the silly Michael Scott. Continue reading

UK & US Pilot Compare and Contrast

13 Dec

In case any watchers of the U.S. version of The Office didn’t already know, the very first episode from the very first season, refereed to as “Pilot” has a slew of similarities with the pilot episode of the British version. Steve Carell did not even allow himself to watch the UK version of The Office for fear that he would accidentally copy Ricky Gervais‘ performance of his parallel character David BrentContinue reading

Dwight Christmas

13 Dec

Admirable or Impish?I never thought it would happen – the very last Christmas episode of The Office ever! But what I don’t understand is how could everyone in the office almost forget about Christmas altogether? After some banter about what to do about the matter followed by an emergency party planning committee meeting, the workers decide to do Dwight‘s quaint, German styled Christmas. Continue reading

The Target

13 Dec

*aaaaahh*Let me just say that I don’t think I’ve ever experienced fear while watching The Officebut that changed after this episode’s intro. Obviously we all knew that it would be bad news when Angela found out about Oscar‘s affair with her husband, the “state” senator, but when I saw those scissors clenched in Angela’s vengeful hands I almost had a heart attackSeriously.  Continue reading

The Whale

19 Nov

Every episode I can’t expect things to get any worse for Andy, but the intro to this week’s episode totally proved me wrong. The workers in the office witness a very sun-burnt and delirious Andy who is stranded at sea.  After successfully managing to lose his only two sources of drinking water, he then loses the laptop and all contact with Andy is lost through a watery lens. Continue reading

The Boat

17 Nov

Once upon a time Michael Scott would have been the worst person to know your deepest, darkest secret, but I’m not sure how much of an improvement Kevin Malone is considered. However, the plot line setup for this episode is a hilarious idea. We have Oscar‘s logical, left-brained personality trying to reason with Kevin’s…uh, we’ll just say smaller brain. Continue reading

Here Comes Treble

5 Nov

Perhaps the scariest thing about this Halloween episode is that it is the last Halloween episode of The Office ever. Sigh. But before I go off on too much of a tangent, let’s talk about the intro, which I can adequately describe in one word – Hysterical. Dwight scares Erin by effortlessly putting his head inside of a pumpkin – if only it was as simple to get it out. Continue reading

Roy’s Wedding

2 Oct

I have put Roy so far out of my mind in the scope of The Office that it was surprising, yet refreshing to see a classic character in the midst of all the season 9 weirdness. Although by the title of the episode Roy obviously is in a committed relationship with another woman, my loyalty to Jim and Pam made me fear for the worse. Fortunately, Roy’s presence did not interfere with Jim and Pam – at least not in the way that I had expected. Continue reading

The New Guys

2 Oct

The appropriately termed ‘Farewell Season’ has arrived ladies and gentlemen. After almost ten years, the creators and cast are finally calling it quits. While many viewers claim that The Office should have ended when Steve Carell left, I think season 9 will serve as an important season to allow conclusions to happen naturally for the rest of the characters, instead of a forced ending. Aside from this, there are a number of plot lines set up with the season premiere “The New Guys”.  Continue reading

Top Three Heartbreaking Moments

7 Sep

#1: If I had been watching The Office around this time I might have been a little upset that I had to wait until the next season for this. This season 3 premiere picks up right where the season 2 finale left off – Jim embracing Pam and exchanging a long overdue kiss – in my opinion anyway. At this point viewers are aware of Jim’s transfer to the Stamford branch in the near future. After openly admitting his love for Pam once to no avail, he makes one last attempt to win her over. Pam admits that she has also always wanted to kiss Jim. Continue reading
